RAGING SPEEDHORN Guitarist Issues European Tour Wrap-Up

December 17, 2007

Guitarist Gareth Smith of the Corby, UK metallers RAGING SPEEDHORN has posted a lengthy European tour wrap-up on the band's MySpace page. A couple of excerpts follow:

"It's weird when you get to the end of a tour… it's usually, as it is now, mixed feelings. I'm going home [to Stockholm, Sweden] tomorrow, exhausted, dirty and hungry. I miss my wife, my dog and my apartment. On the other hand, I'm sad because last night we said goodbye to some amazing new friends on the road. It's weird to feel both happy and gutted at the same time.

"We just did three really intense weeks supporting CARNIVORE in Europe. We do everything for ourselves and at times it's pretty hardcore. This time we didn't even have our seventh member, Lee, with us. We had some fucked up drives over the Alps, through the hills in Czech Republic, got ripped off on the French roads and barely made it to a couple of the shows because our van is so slow. One night and day, we drove 14 hours between Torino and Saarbrucken, got delayed by snow on top of the Alps and got to the show 30 minutes after we were supposed to start. Thankfully, CARNIVORE's wonderful tour manager Lotje pushed the show back for us, and Tom and Roy, their guitar and drum tech, helped us load in, unpack and set up and we ran in and played the show! It was a good show too! Even their sound guy Mark did our sound for us out of pure kindness. I wanted to kiss those guys for being there for us.

"The guys in CARNIVORE were unbelievable! Pete Steel is a legend. One of the funniest guys I have ever met, and as much as he constantly took the piss out of us 'limee bastards,' was a true gent. Joey Z and all the other guys, band and crew were amazing. I thought the shows might be a little hard for us, but generally the crowds were great for us. Not that we'd have cared anyway, but it's nice when people are nice.

"So I go home tomorrow both happy and sad.

"This tour confirmed in me what I've always loved about touring. I love the travelling and the playing and the partying and the good times. The bad times not so much… vans breaking down, getting lost in cities, the sleep deprivation and the lack of a good shower I could do without.

"I love making amazing new friends from all over the world. I like being able to travel on my free time all over the place and stay there for free.

"Christmas now! Love that shit too! See you on the road in 08!"

RAGING SPEEDHORN's latest CD, "Before The Sea Was Built", was released in September via SPV.

"Before the Sea Was Built" was recorded at Foel Studio in North Wales with producer Larry Hibbitt.

RAGING SPEEDHORN will support CARNIVORE on a European tour beginning on November 30 in Essen, Germany.
